When looking for a place full of Christmas cheer, Metro Manila isn’t exactly the first thing that would come to most Filipinos’ minds – maybe not in yours, too. However, not a lot of people – even those who live in one of the Metro – know that there are many spots in its different cities that can kindle that much-needed holiday spirit.
So if you haven’t laid your eyes yet on any of these spots, then it’s time you rev up that Toyota Vios from the Philippines and drive to these beautiful Christmas-themed places that will spark a much-needed Yuletide joy in you, your friends, and family.
Greenhills Shopping Center, San Juan
Ah, Greenhills! The place to be in if you’re looking for affordable electronics and collector items. And since Christmas involves a lot of shopping, it’s only right that you pay a visit to this place. That, however, shouldn’t be the main reason why you should go there. Instead, you should go there for the lights and show that features moving mannequins. And don’t worry about the price because the show is absolutely free! After all, it’s Christmas, a time of generosity.
Ayala Triangle Gardens, Makati
If there’s something Makati is known for during Christmas, it’s the fact that the city is always spruced up with Christmas trees and lights every holiday season. And while there are many places in Makati where you can hang out and feel the Yuletide spirit, the Ayala Triangle Gardens will always be a crowd favorite. Because aside from its beautifully lighted trees that make the place seem so magical, there is a light show every thirty minutes from 6 to 9 pm. This light show features 800,000 LED lights “dance” to the tune of well-loved Christmas songs. Impressive, right? Well, that’s just how they celebrate Christmas in Makati.
Policarpio Street, Mandaluyong
Whenever Christmas nears, families who live in suburban areas across the country beautify their abodes, whether it’s humble or otherwise, with some of the most extravagant Christmas decorations; sometimes it even feels like a “Best Christmas-themed House” contest. But if you think that’s excessive, then you should go to Policarpio Street in Mandaluyong.
Across this road, you’ll find houses that are strewn with Christmas lights and other Christmas décor from the roof down to the front yard. So, you were saying something about the Christmas decorations on your neighbors’ houses?
Star City – CCP Complex, Roxas Boulevard, Metro Manila
Christmas is the perfect time to visit amusement parks. Nobody really knows why; they just are. So if you want to try a few adrenaline-pumping rides and play a few boardwalk games but think that Santa Rosa, Laguna is a bit too far, then there’s always Star City.
The entrance is only worth Php 65, while the ride-all-you-can ticket is worth Php 420. Tip: if you’re planning to avail the latter, go to Star City early, as there are long lines during the holidays.
