Possessions reflect one’s personality. From your house to your car, how you take care of your things can be quite telling what kind of a person you are. And of course, if you sport a dirty car with an unorganized and messy interior, it will speak volumes about you.
So if your Toyota Vios from the Philippines is a bit dusty outside and messy inside, you’d better start making some changes, lest people start thinking you’re a slob. And in case you don’t know where to start, here are a few tips you can follow.
Keep a Trash Bag
Some of the most common kinds of clutter usually found in cars are trash like disposable food containers, pieces of tissue paper, and plastic wrappers to name a few. And if you’re not the one who’s littering inside of your car, which is more likely to be the case, people riding along with you will, especially if they have nowhere to throw them.
To stop junk from filling up the insides of your car, you should keep a trash bag. That way, you and those who ride with you will have somewhere to properly dispose of their wastes, which in turn will be disposed of later on.
On the other hand, if you think the former is a waste of perfectly good trash bags that can be used for more worthwhile things, you can just buy a small waste basket for your car.
Unclutter the Dashboard
People who have poor organizing skills and habits usually leave their things on any surface. That is why when it comes to their own cars, it’s easy to find a few small stuff – wallets, loose coins, reading materials, food, and the like – sitting on top of their dashboard. Now don’t start pointing fingers; you’re probably guilty of this one, too!
A cluttered dash is an unsightly dash; at worst, it can distract you from your driving. Instead of just placing your stuff on your dashboard, try to think first if the item you’ll be putting on top of it should be there in the first place. If that’s too much of a hassle for you, then you can just remind yourself to pick them up later on instead.
Start Vacuuming Regularly
It’s nice to eat inside of your car. Vacuuming its carpet, however, is an entirely different matter. After all, it’s a pretty painstaking chore. However, it’s necessary, as it becomes hard to breathe inside your car once food particles and dust begin accumulating.
Fix the Glove Compartment
A common practice for car owners is to stash away in the glove compartment the stuff they don’t want lying on the dashboard. While this frees up your dashboard, it stuffs your dashboard with things that shouldn’t be there in the first place.
So before you put anything inside the glove compartment, try to think if it’s something you’ll frequently need. Your license, documents, reading glasses, repair tools, your wallet, plus other things you personally need – these are some of the things you should put inside of your glove compartment. Books, money, food items, on the other hand, will just eat up space that could’ve been used on other important things. Keep them in your bag instead.
Just like a house, a car should be kept clean inside-out. After all, even if your car’s exterior is spotless, your interior should always be spic-and-span, even if your windows are tinted, because you wouldn’t want to drive and have your family and friends sit in a filthy ride.
