In the Philippines, the Toyota Fortuner is one of the most popular SUVs because it is affordable, has a clean and wide space, and it can easily transport an entire family from one place to another. It is perfect for going on road trips with your friends and family.
Speaking of road trips, have you ever found yourself driving through a road that creeps you out for no apparent reason? It could be your mind playing tricks on you, or it could be – something else. Even if you don’t believe in the paranormal, these 4 local and foreign roads will make you think twice before going through them:
Balete Drive, Philippines
Ah, the infamous Balete Drive. Although this highway is also notable for the the 200-year-old Centennial House and the gargantuan balete tree that used to stand in the middle of the road, most Filipinos know the Balete Drive as a road no one must venture to in the wee hours of night. Witnesses claim that they’ve seen a woman wearing a white dress trying to hitch a ride. According to rumors, the girl died in a car accident and is just trying to find her way home. Other stories say she was a victim of war. Whatever the truth is, it is not advisable to drive through Balete Drive especially after dark.
Daang Hari Road, Philippines
Daang Hari, also known as the Las Piñas-Muntinlupa-Cavite Road (LAMUCAR), is a high-capacity urban road that links southern Metro Manila to the province of Cavite. Today, various establishments and subdivisions litter said route, indicating that more and more people now go through Daang Hari. This is a far cry from what it used to be – Daang Hari was once nothing but a simple road and miles and miles of tall grasses. There were no lights and passing cars had to use their headlights so they can see the way. According to rumors, Daang Hari used to be a dumping site of murder and rape victims, which is why there are many lost souls who allegedly approach the living, presumably to ask for help in seeking justice.
Dead Man’s Curve, USA
Dead Man’s Curve is a highly dangerous turning intersection in Clermont County, Ohio. It has a long list of victims, including five teenagers whose sedan was hit by a speeding car. The place is allegedly haunted by a faceless hitchhiker who, according to witnesses, looks like a three-dimensional silhouette who would try to flag your car down or can be seen slowly walking on the side of the road.
A75 Kinmont Straight, Scotland
This road is considered to be Scotland’s most haunted road, which earned it the moniker “The Ghost Road”. For more than fifty years, numerous reports claim it as the venue of a several unexplained sightings: a ghostly couple, an old man with no eyes, a man with a sack on his head, screaming hags, and random unearthly creatures appearing out of nowhere. These are said to appear in front of passing vehicles then disappear just before impact. All of these lost spirits could be attributed to the fact the A75 Kinmont Straight is one of the most dangerous roads in Scotland.
You probably won’t believe it until you experience it for yourself, but it’s up to you to decide if driving through so-called haunted roads is worth trying. Just make sure to exercise extreme caution so that you and your passengers will be safe all throughout the journey.
